Carol Swiecicka, Newton Abbot Travel Club, has had a busy few months with her group. We caught up with her to find out about some of the standout trips.

Where have you been recently?

GTO Carol Swiecicka

Carol organises trips for the Newton Abbot Travel Club.

Three recent trips we’ve done are to Exbury Gardens and BBC Gardeners World Spring Plant Fair at Beaulieu, The Royal Albert Hall’s Classical Spectacular and Bridwell in Devon

How many people went on the trips?

48 to Exbury / 51 to the Royal Albert Hall / 48 to Bridwell and Wells.

Tell us some of the highlights

Exbury: the spring colours of the garden were at their best with many members enjoying a ride on the narrow-gauge steam train. Everyone enjoyed visiting Beaulieu and the break and we were also very lucky with the weather having good dry days.

Royal Albert Hall: we went to see the last Classical Spectacular. The club has been going to the November performance for the last 15+ years and were extremely sorry to learn this was to be the last at the venue.

Carol Swiecicka's group lunch

The group went for lunch at Middle Temple Hall in London.

The following day we chose to go into central London and have lunch at Middle Temple Hall, somewhere we hadn’t been before. It proved a good choice, especially having recently featured on Masterchef.

Bridwell Estate, Devon: it was a very popular trip – the home of Lord Ivar Mountbatten and James Coyle, it has featured in ITV’s Keeping Up With The Aristocrats series.

Carol Swiecicka's group trip to Devon

The group enjoyed a visit to the Bridwell Estate.

It was a lovely short drive up through the gates to the Orangery for coffee where we were greeted. After enjoying refreshments and the lovely surroundings, we took a scenic drive through Cheddar Gorge before visiting Wells.
