Steve Reed Tourism is organising a group travel showcase weekend in Lancashire on Monday 6th June.
The event has been designed to introduce GTOs and members of the travel trade to the Lancashire Triangle and the areas of Wigan, Atherton and Leigh in particular.
The day will begin at 10am with a cruise with Kittywake Canal Cruises, departing from Wigan Pier and sailing along part of the Leeds to Liverpool canal.
In boarding the boat passengers will join a list of famous faces that includes Queen Elizabeth and Gary Barlow.
“Our canal cruise service operates highly enjoyable trips from the iconic Wigan Pier and they are ideal for groups visiting Lancashire. We wish to show how well our service can provide a great experience for groups,” said Stephen Carrington, managing director of Kittywake Canal Cruises.
“We can offer groups a choice of our Kittywake or Elleswake boats - and Elleswake has complete disability access also.”
The day will continue at Ena Mill in Atherton, where GTOs will take a guided tour to learn about the building’s expansion, before having some free time to shop.
Holiday Inn Express Hotel in Leigh Sports Village will also have the opportunity to showcase their hotel at the event. The accommodation provider is a new addition to the local groups market.
“We are pleased to be working in partnership with Kittywake and Ena Mill in putting our part of the northwest under the tourism microscope,” said Cathy Savage, sales manager at Holiday Inn.
“Our hotel is a perfect choice for groups coming into Lancashire and Greater Manchester - ideal for groups wanting to spend a little time in exploring our vibrant offering and we are looking forward to welcoming them.”
