The new Harry Potter play – Harry Potter and the Cursed Child – will premiere on Saturday 30th July at the Palace Theatre in London.
The play will be performed in two different parts, and theatregoers can choose to view it on two consecutive evenings or in order on the same day (matinee and evening).
The cast of over 30 has not yet been announced. It’s the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage and will be directed by John Tiffany.
Tiffany is best-known for directing Once, for which he was the recipient of multiple awards both in the West End and on Broadway.
J.K Rowling explained “I’m confident that when audiences see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child they will understand why we chose to tell this story in this way.”
Previews begin on 7th June 2016 with opening performances in July.
Tickets begin at £20 and will go on sale – online only – on 30th October at 11am.
There will also be a daily and weekly lottery where a further 40 tickets are released.
Synopsis
The plot for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will pick up where the seventh book in the Harry Potter series left off.
It will focus on Harry’s life as an employee at the Ministry of Magic and as a husband and father of three school age children.
Throughout the production, Harry will grapple with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, while his youngest son Albus confronts a family legacy he never wanted.
