Ironbridge Gorge Museum

As part of the celebrations for its 50th anniversary, the Ironbridge Gorge Museums in Shropshire have created several new packages and tours suitable for groups.

Ironbridge Gorge Museums are offering new packages and tours which will allow groups to combine visits to several museums.

The Ironbridge Gorge Museums are made up of Blists Hill Victorian Town, Enginuity, Coalport China Museum, Jackfield Tile Museum, Coalbrookdale Museum of Iron, Museum of The Gorge, Darby Houses, Tar Tunnel, the Iron Bridge & Tollhouse and Broseley Pipeworks.

Very Victorian Tour

One of the new tours is the Very Victorian Tour. This tour begins with a visit to the all-new Coalbrookdale Museum of Iron and Old Furnace, where Abraham Darby’s innovation kick-started the Industrial Revolution.

The tour will then take groups to Blists Hill Victorian Town to experience the sights, sounds and smells of the Victorian era.

The final stop is a visit to Jackfield Tile Museum to discover the skills, craft and creativity behind the tiles that helped to decorate Victorian Britain.

Ceramics Tour

Another new tour is the Ceramics Tour which will suit groups with a passion for art and design. This tour includes a visit to Coalport China Museum to explore the bottle-shaped building and to witness the delicate art of China decoration.

The tour continues with a short drive through the World Heritage Site and across the River Severn, with time for lunch before visiting the Jackfield Tile Museum, where thousands of decorative tiles are on display.

Group bookings

Dependent on the group’s interest these tours can be customised to include a visit to the Museum of The Gorge and a riverside walk to see the iconic Iron Bridge and Tollhouse.

The packages and tours are available for groups with 15 or more people. Group organisers and coach drivers are entitled to complimentary admission.
