The Belgian Tourist Office-Wallonia has joined with Shearings Holidays to offer a new range of short break holidays to Belgium.
The partnership aims to attract more tourists to the southern regions of Belgium and will be launching new trips incorporating some of the events taking place in the coming months.
What can groups choose from?
The holidays will include a visit to the colourful Venetian Costume Festival that takes place each May at Annevoie Gardens near Dinant.
They will also offer the opportunity to be part of Tanks in Town, a peaceful invasion of the city of Mons each September to commemorate the liberation of the city in 1944. During this you'll see parades of wartime vehicles and other World War Two displays.
The partnership will also introduce short breaks based in the picturesque Belgian Ardennes.
Groups can download the new brochure which provides more details of the holidays from the Wallonia website.
Comments on the partnership
Andrew Sowry, Shearings’ European product manager, said: “Working closely with the Belgian Tourist Office-Wallonia we produced a dedicated brochure featuring a mix of events, festivals and destinations across Wallonia, the first time that Shearings has offered a programme of this kind.
“Our customers are always looking for new and exciting experiences and this mix of events, destinations and attractions offers them exactly that.”
Phillipe Maree, travel trade manager with the Belgian Tourist Office-Wallonia, also commented on the partnership: “Southern Belgium, or Wallonia to give the region its correct name, isn’t far from Calais or Dunkerque, and is becoming popular with individuals and groups looking for a mix of heritage, first-class scenery, and traditional Belgian food and drink.
“This new partnership with Shearings will give more of its customers the opportunity to enjoy even more memorable experiences”
