To celebrate Valentine’s Day, we round-up a selection of destinations with ties to famous love stories, which are also great for group visitors.
1. Verona, Italy
Who can talk about love without the William Shakespeare play Romeo & Juliet springing to mind? The forbidden love of the two youngsters takes place in the ‘fair Verona’ making it an ideal spot for Valentine ’s Day as well as year-round trips. Shakespeare's play was inspired by a true love story and family rivalry which is believed to have taken place in the 1300s in Verona. Things to see when visiting include the Piazza delle Erbe, the scenic square in the heart of the city, and Juliet's Balcony which is rather hidden but one of the hottest tourist spots in Verona. There's also the Verona Arena which boasts Roman architecture and hosts the Arena Opera Festival between June and September.

2. Cairo and Luxor, Egypt
Where better to learn about history, love and architecture than Egypt which was led by ruler Cleopatra, who fell in love with the Roman general Marcus Antonius, or Mark Anthony as he is better known. Of course, there is Ancient Egypt and Modern Egypt which can both be explored when visiting depending on what your group desires. The Pyramids and the Giza Plateau in Cairo are not to be missed, and you can also go temple spotting in Luxor. Luxor is often referred to as 'the world's greatest open-air museum' as it features so much history, from the tombs of Tutankhamen to Nile cruises to temples and sunsets.
