Keeley Rodgers stayed a night at the London Marriott Regents Park hotel, which has recently undergone a multi-million pound refurbishment.
Set back from tree-lined streets and a stone’s throw away from the zoo and parks, you’d be forgiven for forgetting you’re in London.
The London Marriott Regents Park hotel has recently had a major revamp, which has seen a newly renovated lobby, executive lounge and bedrooms. And it’s been such a success you feel as if you’re walking into the reception area of a brand new hotel.
With thousands of hotels to choose from in the capital, it can be hard to choose where to stay, but for those wanting something more off the beaten track, the Marriott is a great option.
It offers a comfortable stay with a touch of luxury, and a location to allow groups to explore a different part of the capital.
On your doorstep
Less than a mile from London Zoo and just 250 yards from the Swiss Cottage Tube Station, the Marriott is easy to get to and a great base to discover the area.
And if it’s green space you’re after, to combine with the hustle and bustle of London sightseeing, you won’t be disappointed.
A short walk away is Primrose Hall which offers spectacular views across London. On the slope of the hill is Shakespeare’s Tree, an oak tree planted in 1864 to mark the 300th anniversary of Shakespeare’s birth.
Venture down the hill and you’ll come to Regent’s Park, which covers 395 acres and glorious gardens to explore, not least the 12,000 roses in Queen Mary’s Gardens.
A comfortable stay
You’ll need to set your alarm clock because the beds are so comfortable, so much so that it was very hard to get myself up and out; you really do melt into the pillows and mattress. With 311 rooms available, from ‘deluxe double double’ rooms to executive suites, there’s something for everyone.
Finished to a very high standard, the rooms combine luxury with practicality, and give you plenty of space. And there’s a real sense of the outdoors being bought inside with the natural design of the interior.
Elsewhere in the hotel, there’s everything you need including a great-sized swimming pool, sauna and leisure club, for the more active guests.
Dining options
Guests can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner at the popular Italian restaurant chain Carluccio’s, in the hotel. The first hotel-based Carluccio’s restaurant, the eatery is open for a choice of breakfasts, and there’s so much to choose from, you’ll need to stretch your legs to walk it off. There’s also the option to have dinner there as well but if you want to explore the area, there’s a selection of restaurants nearby including The Primrose Eatery, Manna and Lemonia.
The revamp
The multi-million pound renovation has recently been completed and has included a refurbishment of the hotel’s lobby, executive lounge, bedrooms and meeting spaces. The rooms now have 49” smart TVs with Apple TV and walk-in rain showers. The renovated lobby now has dedicated zones for guests to relax and socialise.
Group rates and coach parking are available. Organisers should contact the hotel for details.
