Attractions across the UK are getting into the Christmas spirit with historic rooms now decked out with extravagant lights and displays in time for the festive season. Here’s our pick of some of our favourite photos…

Holkham Hall, Norfolk
The state rooms at Holkham Hall in Norfolk have been decorated with Christmas cheer and visitors can explore ‘Holkham Hall by Candlelight’ on self-led tours until 20th December and from 27th - 30th December.
The state rooms have been crafted to be ready for a Christmas gathering, with the table set for a feast and wreaths, garlands and trees lighting up the grand space.
Warwick Castle, Warwickshire
The castle grounds have been transformed for Christmas, where over half a million twinkling lights are now illuminating 64 acres to create a light trail.
Food and drink stalls and an ice rink have also been added to the castle grounds.
Palace of Holyroodhouse, Edinburgh
The centrepieces for the Christmas display at the King’s Scottish residence are two 12-foot-high Christmas trees and a mantle garland in the throne room.
The Great Stair leading to the state apartments has been adorned with garlands, berries and foliage, along with wreaths hung in the window’s of the King’s Rooms.
Windsor Castle, Berkshire
The highlight of this year’s Christmas decorations at Windsor Castle is a 20-foot-high Nordmann Fir tree in St George’s Hall, grown nearby in Windsor Great Park and illuminated with thousands of lights.
Another Christmas tree can be found in the Crimson Drawing Room, whilst the castle grounds have been decorated with festive wreaths. You can also see festive garlands hung along the grand staircase to greet guests on their walk up to the state apartments.
For the first time, specially made miniature decorations have been added to Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House, with a scaled-down Christmas tree in the Hall, as well as a garland decorating the staircase.
Handel Hendrix House, London
Handel Hendrix House is the musical historic house museum which was once home to the great composer George Frideric Handel for more than 30 years, before rock legend Jimi Hendrix made his home in the cosy top-floor flat between 1968 and 1969.
Handel’s 18th-century rooms have been transformed with Christmas trees and wreaths, whilst Jimi Hendrix’s flat has been decked out with 1960s-style streamers and miniature trees.
Leeds Castle, Kent
Inside the castle you will find state rooms which are brimming with festive charm, while playful shadows of toys bring the magical story of the Nutcracker to life.
Outside in the castle grounds a festive light trail has been created, featuring glowing reeds rising high into the night sky, giant colour-changing lilies shimmering on the lake, sparkling tunnels and well-lit trees that fill the air with colours.
Lincoln Castle
Lincoln Castle has been illuminated with lights and festive characters, with snow machines adding a winter feel to the walkway.
The castle’s resident dragons, Norman and Lucy, have also been given Santa hats to celebrate the season in style.
Bletchley Park, Buckinghamshire
The home of the World War Two codebreakers has been decked out with 1940s-style Christmas decorations, creating a vintage look for visitors young and old to enjoy. The mansion’s ballroom on-site has been transformed into a Christmas grotto, with plenty of Christmas trees and toys to see, before seeing the big man in the red suit himself.
