Paramount Pictures has confirmed plans to open a new £2 billion theme park in Kent in 2020, which will be dedicated to the Hollywood film production company.
The theme park (the concept of which is not unlike Disney World) will be called London Paramount Entertainment Resort, and is expected to attract around 40,000 visitors per day. It is planned to be twice the size of Olympic Park in London.
The park will contain a number of themed zones, with rides and attractions for adults and children.
The attraction will nod to some of Paramount’s most iconic films like Mission: Impossible, Star Trek, The Italian Job and The Godfather.
TV characters including Wallace and Gromit and Shaun the Sheep will also be brought to life at the resort.
It will also boast facilities that will make it suitable as a holiday location as well as a day trip destination.
Groups planning to visit the new park will be able to choose from a range of hotels with a combined total of 5,000 on-site bedrooms.
Confirmed features throughout the site will include a theme park; a 1,500 seat theatre staging regular West End shows; and an indoor event space for hosting musical and sporting events.
There will also be a waterpark, a number of food and retail outlets, and an art-house style cinema and various nightclubs.
Entertainment City
At the heart of the resort will be the Entertainment City, which will provide a wide range of indoor and open-air experiences as well as a variety of cafes, bars and restaurants.
The Entertainment City will be able to host a number of events each year such as shows and music events.
Other proposed themed areas include Adventure Island, and a Myths and Legends Castle.
Late afternoon every day a Paramount and Friends Carnival is planned to take place, and will be followed every evening with an entertainment show celebrating the works of Paramount Pictures.
