200,000 extra tickets have been released for Beautiful - The Carole King Musical, extending the booking period until 22nd July 2017.
The musical, based on the early life and career of the famous singer-songwriter Carole King, is housed at the Aldwych Theatre in London, and first opened in February 2015.
Cast and creatives
The current West End cast is led by Cassidy Janson in the title role alongside Alan Morrissey who plays King’s husband and song-writing partner Gerry Goffin.
Lorna Want plays song-writer Cynthia Weil, Ian McIntosh plays song-writer Barry Mann, Gary Trainor plays the music publisher and producer Don Kirshner, and Diane Keen plays Genie Klein, King’s mother.
The cast also includes Gavin Alex, Hannah Jay-Allan, Vivien Carter, Dom Hartley-Harris and Leo Ihenacho.
The Beautiful - The Carole King Musical book is by Douglas McGrath, with words and music by Gerry Goffin, Carole King, Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil. It’s directed by Marc Bruni, with choreography by Josh Prince.
Synopsis
Audiences watching Beautiful will follow King’s relationship with husband and song-writing partner Gerry Goffin, their close friendship and playful rivalry with fellow song-writing duo Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, and her remarkable rise to stardom.
With a cast of 26 and an orchestra of 12, Beautiful features Carole King classics including So Far Away, (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman, It Might As Well Rain Until September, Take Good Care Of My Baby, Will You Love Me Tomorrow, and Locomotion.
