Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story has announced it will visit at least 23 additional theatres in 2017, extending the 2016 tour which opens this August.
The tour will open at Harlow Playhouse on 31st August, and go on to play at venues including the High Wycombe Swan Theatre, the Bournemouth BIC, and the Southampton Mayflower Theatre.
And with the booking period having been extended until June 2017, the new venues include the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury and the Palace Theatre in Manchester.
Casting
Casting has been confirmed for the tour too; in the lead will be actors Glen Joseph and Alex Fobbester who will alternate the role of Buddy Holly.
Other cast members include Miguel Angel, Joe Butcher, Celia Cruwys-Finnigan, Jordan Cunningham, and Josh Haberfield.
Kerry Low, Thomas Mitchells, Matthew Quinn, Tom Sowinski and Alex Tosh make up the rest of the ensemble.
Synopsis
Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story tells the true story of the famous musician’s rise to fame.
The show covers Holly’s short career from 1957, when That’ll Be the Day first hit radio, to his final performance at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa, before his untimely death at the age of 22.
The musical presents over 20 of Buddy Holly’s greatest hits, such as That’ll Be The Day, Peggy Sue, Oh Boy and Rave On.
The show also features the popular hits Ritchie Valens’ La Bamba and the Big Bopper’s Chantilly Lace.
