An American in Paris
Inspired by the Oscar-winning film of the same name, and featuring music and lyrics by George and Ira Gershwin, An American in Paris opened on 21st March with an initial booking period running until 30th September 2017.
An American in Paris focuses on the character of Jerry Mulligan, an American GI striving to make it as a painter in Paris, where the possibilities seem endless.
By chance, Jerry encounters a beautiful young dancer named Lise, and the streets of Paris become the backdrop to what’s described as a sensuous, modern romance of art, friendship and love in the aftermath of war.
An American in Paris features songs including I Got Rhythm, ‘S Wonderful, and They Can't Take That Away From Me, alongside some of George Gershwin’s compositions such as Concerto in F and An American in Paris.
