The UK’s largest cheese fair will return for its sixth year in 2016, featuring 50 cheese makers and over 250 cheeses on show at Melton Mowbray Cattle Market, Leicestershire.
Visitors will have the opportunity to taste and purchase some of the UK’s rarest and most popular artisan cheeses at the fair, which welcomed 8,000 cheese lovers last year.
Daily programmes of talks, demonstrations and tastings given by industry experts will help teach the public about cheese on the weekend of the 30th April and the 1st May. Local produce can also be enjoyed at the event, including pies, wine, cakes, cider, Champagne, and Melton Mowbray’s famous pork pies.
Matthew O’Callaghan, organiser of the Artisan Cheese Fair, commented, “The Artisan Cheese Fair is now into its sixth year and continues to grow in size and quality of experience for local, regional and national visitors. With plans for more exhibitors, offering more types of cheese than ever, this year’s event will be the largest cheese fair of its type in the UK.”
Chair of the Specialist Cheesemakers Association, Tim Jones, added, “Many of our members attend the Artisan Cheese Fair in Melton Mowbray which has gained a very positive reputation nationwide over the last few years as an opportunity for specialist cheesemakers to showcase their products.”
There will be coach parking available on the site for up to 50 vehicles at the Cattle Market and entry is just £3 per person.
