Arundel Castle has announced an array of group friendly events for summer 2016, ahead of its reopening on Good Friday.
The season will start on 26th March with Normans and Crusaders. The weekend will feature combat displays, falconry demonstrations and tales by professional storyteller Yarnsmith of Norwich.
The International Jousting & Medieval Tournament will take place between 26th and 31st July and will include knights from across the world battling in full plate armour atop specially trained horses. Competitors will also be encouraged to pit against each other in hand-to-hand combat challenges, intended to test their Medieval battle skills.
The weekend of 27th to 29th August will feature History in Action aimed at showing visitors how Sussex has developed over the years. It will explore the time of Roman gladiators, from when there was once a Roman Villa at Arundel.
New for 2016, the Norman Knights’ Tournament will take place between 9th and 10th July. Mixing combat displays with archery tournaments, the event will also include storytelling, falconry demonstrations and have-a-go archery, all taking place on the castle’s upper grounds.
For groups, the castle offers discounted ticket prices, free admission for group organisers and free coach parking. Coach drivers will also receive free entry and a complimentary restaurant voucher.
Alongside these events, private tours of the castle are recommended for groups.
