River cruise line, Avalon Waterways, has revealed its programme for 2018, and highlights include the expansion of its Asian Panorama Suite Ship fleet and a new Active Discovery cruise on the Rhine.
Avalon Saigon joins Asian fleet
Due for delivery in September 2018, new vessel Avalon Saigon will join sister ship, Avalon Siem Reap on River Mekong cruises, sailing the 14 day Fascinating Vietnam, Cambodia & the Mekong cruise.
Both ships feature 18 suites with 245-square-feet of living space and open-air balconies featuring floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall panoramic windows. In front of each balcony is a private sitting area.
New on the Rhine
Following the launch of Active Discovery river cruises on the Danube this year, Avalon Waterways has added another itinerary on the Rhine, from Wiesbaden to Amsterdam through the Rhine Gorge.
Active guests can choose to hike near Eltville and Duisburg, climb up to Marksburg Castle for a guided visit, participate in a re-enactment of Roman Games in Xanten, bike along the Rhine River, or join a running tour in Amsterdam.
Groups sailing on this itinerary can also discover the wine of the Rheinegau region at a tasting in Eltville and the art of chocolate making at Cologne’s Chocolate Museum, plus sample German delicacies during a culinary tour in Duisburg.
Booking offers for groups
A range of early booking offers are available for Avalon Waterways bookings made before 31st October 2017.
The cruise line is offering free places with group bookings: one in ten passengers can travel for free on an Avalon Panorama Suite Ship group booking, and one in eight passengers on an Avalon Deluxe Ship group booking.
Groups can also take advantage of an expanded range of departure dates for 2018, which have been added to Avalon’s most popular themed river cruises based on wine appreciation, culinary, beer, history and festive cruises.
