BalletBoyz has revealed the tour dates for the world premiere and UK tour of production Life.
The show will receive its world premiere at Sadler’s Wells in London in April, before embarking on a UK tour.
Life will take a powerful and provocative look at life and death, presented in BalletBoyz’ contemporary style, and will feature new commissions by choreographers Javier de Frutos and Pontus Lidberg.
The show will feature an original score, which will be played live on stage by an ensemble of nine musicians.
The production – which is co-produced by Sadler’s Wells in association with artsdepot – will tour at venues such as Worthing, London, Oxford, Exeter, Guildford, Yeovil, Edinburgh, Dundee, Southport, Litchfield and Cambridge.
The final show of the tour will be at Cheltenham, with a tour of the USA to follow in 2017.
Javier de Frutos explained, “I’m thrilled to be working with BalletBoyz again. This time the subject is life and inevitably death, an intoxicating cocktail, and this is a company of exquisite ingredients and one of a kind in the dance world so I’m looking forward to the exhilarating experience that is creating work with them!”
Pontus Lidberg added, “I’m truly excited to be creating for one of the world’s most forward thinking dance companies. Working with BalletBoyz on this new piece is proving to generate engaging material and ideas.”
