The Bishop%E2%80%99s Palace

The Bishop’s Palace in Wells, Somerset, has confirmed that its annual Garden Festival will return for a third time next summer, with an English Country Garden theme.

The festival, due to take place from 9th to 11th June 2017, is described as a celebration of the horticultural heritage of the palace and gardens.

It will be the third time the garden festival takes place. Groups visiting will able to explore the award winning, RHS partnered gardens, which recently featured on BBC Gardener’s World.

Visitors will also get to enjoy talks from horticultural experts, peruse stands selling all things garden-related, and watch hands-on demonstrations.

Refreshments, entertainment, appearances from top gardening personalities, and the gathering of new ideas on how to use and love your garden are also to be expected.

The event will run from Friday to Sunday, with festival opening hours 10am to 5pm.

More at The Bishop’s Palace

Groups can enjoy plenty more at The Bishop’s Palace throughout the summer months.

The 2017 Bishop’s Palace Outdoor Theatre season will kick off on 18th June with the children’s classic Peter Pan performed by Chapterhouse Theatre.

This will be followed on 13th, 14th and 15th July by a new version of Hamlet, during which theatre-goers will be encouraged to follow the action around the gardens throughout the evening.

On 30th July, Shakespeare performers, The Lord Chamberlain’s Men, will make an appearance in the gardens with their version of A Comedy of Errors.

The theatre season ends on 27th August with a visit from comedy troupe The Pantaloons.

Other summer events to watch out for include a Rare Plant Fair on 20th August and a Bowlore Medieval Weekend running from 26th to 28th August.

The latter will see the daring Bowlore group demonstrate Medieval archery and sword skills alongside a Medieval encampment.

Groups of ten or more can benefit from discounted admission rates.
