The National Theatre has announced the 34 member cast for its production of War Horse which will set off on a new UK tour this September.
The tour will begin on 15th September and will run until 2nd February 2019.
Who’s set to star in the show?
Thomas Dennis, who is currently playing Christopher Boone in the West End production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, will take on the role of Albert Narracott along with fellow Curious cast member Jo Castleton as his mother Rose Narracott.
Bob Fox, celebrated folk musician, will return as Song Man.
Dennis, Castleton and Fox, will be joined by a further cast of 31.
The War Horse story
War Horse tells the story of a young boy named Albert and his horse Joey, set against the back drop of the World War One. The show projects themes of courage, loyalty and friendship.
It is directed by Marianne Elliott and Tom Morris and is an adaptation of Michael Morpurgo’s novel.
The production of War Horse features puppetry work by South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company which brings galloping horses to life on stage.

The tour will begin at the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury on 15th September. A selection of tour dates that follow will be:

- New Theatre, Oxford – 13th December – 6th January 2018
- The Lowry, Salford – 13th – 30th June 2018

- Glasgow SEC – 15th January 2019 – 2nd February 2019
