The show returns to the capital in 2025 and will run at the London Palladium for 12 weeks, with group bookings available for ten or more.
Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Evita tells the story of the ambitious Eva Perón, with previews from 14th June and performances running until 6th September.
Set in Argentina between 1934-1952, the Tony-winning musical follows Eva Duarte on her journey from poor illegitimate child, to ambitious actress, to wife of military leader-turned-president Juan Perón, making her the most powerful woman in Latin America, before her death from cancer at age 33. A symbol of hope to many Argentines, she captured the nation’s heart.
Directed by Jamie Lloyd, Evita features an iconic score including Don’t Cry For Me Argentina, Oh What A Circus, Another Suitcase in Another Hall, and the Oscar-winning You Must Love Me.
Evita’s memorable Don’t Cry For Me Argentina was recorded and released in 1976 followed by the complete rock opera concept album, which went gold. The stage production opened on 21st June 1978 at the Prince Edward Theatre in London with Elaine Paige in the title role and Joss Ackland as her formidable Juan Perón.
Evita premiered in the US at the Broadway Theatre on 25th September 1979 and won seven Tony awards, including best book, best score and best musical of the year.
A range of Evita productions have been performed all over the world, including Austria, Spain, Mexico and South Africa. A major film adaptation starring Madonna in the title role and Antonio Banderas as Che was released in 1996.
The cast and creative team for the London Palladium production will be announced later this year.
