Dates for the Exeter Festival of South West Food & Drink 2017 have been announced for next year; the event will take place on the May Bank Holiday weekend from 29th April to 1st May.
The award-winning food and drink festival, which celebrates the produce of the south west, will take place in Exeter Castle Courtyard and the Northernhay Gardens, both located in the heart of the city of Exeter.
What can groups do at the festival?
Daytime festival events will officially kick off on the Saturday morning with live demonstrations from chefs, as well as workshops and children’s activities.
In addition to these activities, groups attending the event will be able to purchase all manner of food and drink.
There will be more than 100 artisanal producers from the region in the food and drink marquees in Northernhay Gardens.
These producers will be selling a range of products from traditional cheeses, meats and preserves to ciders, gins, charcuterie, ice-cream and coffee.
Visitors can also get involved in workshops across the weekend. For example, the Darts Farm Taste and Knowledge Teepee will host a schedule of informative workshops and talks on topical food and drink themes.
The Cookery Theatre will also be a highlight throughout the weekend. The festival was founded and continues to be championed by two-Michelin star chef, Michael Caines MBE who will lead a programme of live chef demonstrations in the Cookery Theatre.
Each demonstration will give visitors the chance to see top regional chefs in action. The live shows will put an emphasis on using seasonal produce, and visitors can take inspiration from them before exploring the food and drink marquees to stock up on ingredients for their own culinary creations.
