Exposure The Musical – Life Through a Lens will receive its world premiere at the St. James Theatre, opening on Saturday 16th July and running until Saturday 27th August.
The limited season production is a musical tale of fame and celebrity excess, and has been developed in partnership with Getty Images, a stock image company who supply photos to media outlets around the world.
Synopsis
The plot follows young photographer Jimmy Tucker as he faces the biggest and most exciting challenge of his life when a stranger commissions him to find and shoot the seven deadly sins alive and kicking in modern London.
However, a series of extraordinary encounters involving girlfriends, family history and the cult of celebrity begin to reveal that there is a lot more than just money at stake.
Behind the scenes
The book for this new musical was written by Mike Dyer, with Quentin Russell as script consultant and dramaturgy by Phil Willmott, who is also directing the production.
Mike Dyer, who also wrote the music and lyrics for Exposure The Musical, has experience in the music industry as both a performer and writer. He has toured as a singer with his own bands Tokyo and Rhode Island Red, as well as with acts including Iron Maiden, Bon Jovi and Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
As a writer Dyer has worked with names including Diana Ross, Eric Clapton and Huey Lewis.
Set and video design is by Timothy Bird, costume design by Carla Goodman and musical direction by Mark Collins.
The cast for the musical is set to be announced shortly.
St. James Theatre
Found in the Victoria area of central London, St. James Theatre has a 312-seat main house as well as a cabaret-style studio with a capacity of 120.
The theatre opened in September 2012 and since then has presented plays, musical and revues.
