A major UK tour of Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr Fox is set to commence at the Lyric Hammersmith in London in January 2017 following its world premiere at Nuffield Southampton Theatre at the end of this year.
The family friendly show is a musical adaptation of Roald Dahl’s much loved book; a tale of greed, pride and the power of friendship which sees the clever Mr Fox outfox three greedy farmers, Boggis, Bunce and Bean.
After premiering in Southampton from 22nd November to 8th January 2017, Fantastic Mr Fox will transfer to the Lyric Hammersmith for a four week run (25th January – 19th February) and will then tour to a further 16 venues nationwide, including New Theatre in Cardiff (21st – 25th February), the Oxford Playhouse (11th – 15th April) and the Lyceum Theatre in Sheffield (2nd – 5th May).
The tour is set to finish at the Theatre Royal in Norwich on 24th June 2017, however further tour dates are expected to be announced.
Fantastic Mr Fox is the flagship production for the Roald Dahl 100 celebrations marking the author’s 100th birthday taking place on 13th September.
Published in 1970, Fantastic Mr Fox also achieved success on the silver screen in 2009 with Wes Anderson’s Oscar nominated film version, which starred George Clooney in the title role.
Fantastic Mr Fox is produced by Nuffield and Curve in association with Lyric Hammersmith. The creative team includes playwright Sam Halcroft, direct Maria Aberg, designer Tom Scutt, composer Arthur Darvill and lyricists Darren Clark, Arthur Darvill, Sam Holcroft and Al Muriel.
