Tickets are now on sale for a new behind the scenes tour of the former Olympic Stadium at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
The tour will allow visitors to follow in the footsteps of famous sports stars by taking in the sights and smells of the changing rooms and warm up track, before stepping out of what is now West Ham United’s players’ tunnel, to stand pitch side at the iconic stadium.
Other areas visited on the tour include the competitors’ entrance, home dressing room, warm up track, the dugout and the side of the pitch.
Groups will have the chance to discover the story of the London 2012 games, the history and future of West Ham United Football Club, who took over the stadium shortly after the Olympics ended, and learn about UK Athletics events that continue to take place at the venue.
Visits include a 90 minute multimedia experience that was specifically developed for the tours and will see each visitor using a hand held device that will play videos and interactive content on their journey through the stadium.
On the device, groups will be able to watch interviews with footballers and athletes, as well as highlights from the history of the stadium, UK athletics and West Ham United.
Linda Lennon, London Stadium chief executive officer, commented, “This stadium already has an amazing history from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and the Rugby World Cup 2015.
“It has an even more exciting future as the home of West Ham United and UK Athletics. The stadium tours offer a unique opportunity to get behind the scenes and put yourself in the shoes of the great athletes who have graced this iconic venue.”
The tours will be managed by Delaware North, who is also the hospitality and food service provider at the stadium.
Doug Tetley, managing director at Delaware North UK, added, “We’re delighted to be hosting the London Stadium Tours and look forward to giving visitors to the stadium an exciting, memorable and informative experience.”
