Great Rail Journeys has unveiled a new collection of trips that combine rail travel with cruising, for groups that don’t like flying to meet their cruise ships.
The collection features over 35 no-fly tours, where groups will take a rail journey to their cruise ship, as opposed to flying.
Tours include the Premium Volga Cruise St Petersburg to Moscow, Steam Railways & Scottish Islands, and the Classic Western Mediterranean Cruise.
The Premium Volga Cruise St Petersburg to Moscow itinerary begins with a first class rail journey to Bremen before continuing on to Copenhagen and Stockholm.
Groups will then board the MS Rostropovich in St Petersburg for a seven night cruise, featuring ports of call such as Mandrogi, Goritzy and Uglich.
The Classic Western Mediterranean Cruise gives groups the chance to explore Barcelona and Ibiza during the train leg of their journey, followed by an eight night cruise abroad Celebrity Silhouette. Highlights then include stops at Cannes, Nice and Rome.
Many of the no-fly cruises begin at the company’s dedicated St Pancras Departure Office in London, where groups are met by their tour manager.
This is followed by a trip on the Eurostar to continental Europe in standard premier class, including a light meal and refreshments on board.
Intimate barge cruises in France.
Great Rail Journeys is also offering a small selection of five intimate barge cruises in France. One example journey is the France’s Waterways – Champagne to Paris tour, which combines gastronomy and scenery.
The tour includes a guided tour of Paris, cheese tasting in Meaux and a tasting at the Dom Pérignon Champagne House.
