GTOs buying tickets for Sunny Afternoon can now book for shows up until 25th June with Group Line.
Sunny Afternoon tells the story of rock band The Kinks and their rise to fame.
Music and lyrics for the show have been created by The Kinks’ own frontman Ray Davies, while the script was written by British playwright Joe Penhall.
The show features some of the Kinks’ biggest hits like You Really Got Me, Waterloo Sunset and Lola.
The musical received an Oliver Award last year for Best New Musical, while lead actor John Dagleish won the award for Best Actor in a Musical and George Maguire won the Olivier for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Musical.
The title of the production comes from the name of the band’s 1966 hit single Sunny Afternoon.

Quotes from the cast
Last May Group Leisure interviewed George Maguire about his Olivier and what made the show so popular. When asked ‘Why do you think Sunny Afternoon has captured people’s imaginations so well?’ he said:
“We’re all playing our instruments live on stage every night, and the show has real heart. It’s a really British story, too. Even if you don’t know about the Kinks, the story is really strong. It’s a good one for people who don’t like musicals as well as for people that do.”
