The story of George Washington’s right-hand man during the Revolutionary War continues to wow London audiences with its blend of hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, and R&B, with bookings now extended until September 2023.
The Olivier, Tony and Grammy award-winning production of Hamilton opened at the Victoria Palace Theatre, London in December 2017 and shows no sign of slowing down. Produced by Jeffrey Seller and Cameron Mackintosh, bookings for the hugely successful Broadway musical have now extended to 30th September 2023.
Hamilton tells the story of America’s Founding Father, Alexander Hamilton, who was an immigrant from the West Indies and helped to shape the very foundations of the America we know today.
The musical is based on Ron Chernow’s biography of Alexander Hamilton with its music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda. It is directed by Thomas Kail with Reuben Joseph currently playing the title role of Alexander Hamilton in London.
A filmed version of the Broadway production has found popularity on streaming service, Disney+ and the Hamilton cast performed music from the show as part of the Party at the Palace concert during Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in the summer.
Not only has the production been popular with both Broadway and West End audiences, it has received critical acclaim having won 11 Tony Awards including Best Musical, seven Olivier Awards including Best New Musical, the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the 2016 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album.
