A new state-of-the-art production facility and visitor centre have recently opened at Healeys Cyder Farm in Cornwall following a £3.5 million development project.
Healeys Cyder Farm produces cider brands such as Rattler, Cornish Gold and Classic Healeys, and can now boast tours for groups around the new production facilities.
A number of different tours are available to choose from, such as a fully guided tour, a classic tour and a self-guided tour for those who’d like to explore independently.
A fully guided tour will visit the cider vat, the new bottling line, the cyder museum (on-site), the distillery, and the cellars. Tutored tastings and a tractor ride are also included.
Tour details
Groups visiting the new centre will begin their tour by climbing a staircase around a two-storey high cider vat in order to peer inside to see the cider making process.
Visitors can also walk along an aerial walkway that looks down on the laboratory and bottling lines below, before enjoying a complimentary tasting when the tour is over.
Healeys Cyder Farm
The farm itself is home to Shire horses, Shetland ponies, chickens, rabbits, ferrets, Pygmy goats and Cornish black pigs. There are also freely roaming peacocks and guinea fowl.
Meanwhile, the museum at Healeys is home to a number of displays depicting the origins of Healeys Cyder.
Located in the basement of a 150-year-old barn, the museum is full of artefacts that reveal the drink’s history, going back to the 19th century.
Group booking
Group bookings at Healeys Cyder Farm are available for parties of 20 or more; larger groups are advised to pre-book during busy summer months.
Healey’s boasts ample space for coaches, a 90-seater restaurant and full on-site facilities, so GTOs can rest assured that their group will be catered for.
