A new Tulip Celebrations event will take place next spring at Hever Castle and Gardens in Kent.
7,000 tulips bulbs have been planted in the grounds in preparation for the celebration, which is set to bring a visual feast of spring colour to the Hever Castle grounds for green-fingered groups to enjoy.
Taking place on 24th to 28th April and 2nd to 7th May (excluding the bank holiday weekend), Tulip Celebrations will also include an option of a guided tour with head gardener, Neil Miller. These tours must be booked in advance.
Varieties of tulips which can be found at Hever Castle include Queen of the Night (almost pure black), Ad Rem (red tipped with yellow), Blue Amiable (lilac with a hint of blue) and Kingsblood (deep scarlet).
What else is new in 2017?
Before the tulips bloom, gardening enthusiasts can visit Hever Castle and Gardens for a Snowdrop Walk from 11th February to 5th March, weather dependent. Groups will follow a trail of thousands of snowdrops, which have begun to emerge from their winter hibernation and that provide the first sign that spring is just around the corner.
Then, from 26th June to 2nd July, groups can see Hever in Bloom and experience the quintessential English Rose Garden at the height of its summer beauty with guided tours of the gardens and a floristry workshop.
For those who prefer the autumnal colours and the crunch of leaves underfoot, Autumn Colour from 1st to 29th October might be the ideal time to visit the Kent based castle with its display of yellow, red and orange foliage including, notably, the Boston ivy on the front of Hever Castle.
