Cruise operator, Holland America Line has introduced a series of itineraries and shore excursions with a historical theme, as part of a multi-year partnership with The History Channel.
Each itinerariary will offer opportunities to discover ancient ruins and landmarks, including the ancient sites of Pompeii, the Great Pyramids and the Norwegian fjords.
The sailings will reveal the stories of the civilisations that made ancient ruins and landmarks their home. Groups will be able to learn about the centuries old empires of the Greeks, Romans and Egyptians, northern Europe and its Viking heritage, polar exploration in the Arctic and key moments and locations from World War Two in Hawaii and Japan.
Highlights include a seven-day Norwegian Fjords with Hardangerfjord trip (departing 21st June 2025), a seven-day Mediterranean Marvels of Pompeii cruise (departing 19th July 2026) and a 14-day Arctic Journey & Northern Lights sailing (departing 4th October 2026).
Kacy Cole, chief marketing officer for Holland America Line, said: “With us, history isn’t just told, it is experienced. As two iconic brands rooted in storytelling, we are uniquely positioned to bring history to life through custom itineraries and shore excursions.
“This partnership further differentiates our cruise line and allows us to deliver experiences that are too good to hurry through.”
Groups who book with Holland America can take advantage of its Group Advantage Program (GAP). Depending on the length of your cruise will determine how many GAP points each member of the group will receive.
These points can be used to enhance each sailing, whether that’s through speciality dining, cocktail parties or a range activities on board.
