Celebrity Cruises’ newest ship, the Celebrity Edge, will join the fleet in November, ahead of a summer season in Europe for 2019, with plenty of innovative features onboard.
The Magic Carpet
The 2,918-passenger Celebrity Edge will see a portion of its deck dubbed a ‘magic carpet’ that moves up and down the side of the ship, changing function as it goes.
The size of a tennis court, and reaching heights of 13 storeys above sea level, it is reportedly the world’s first cantilevered, floating platform. It will hold seating, a full bar, and space for live music performances.
Accommodation options
The Edge’s staterooms feature an Infinite Balcony; guests can touch a button and the entire living space becomes the balcony, letting you walk right out to the water’s edge. There are also two new suite categories, and more than double the number of suites available.
The ship’s Iconic Suites are now the ‘most luxurious and spacious’ in the Celebrity fleet; plus six two-storey Edge Villas boast 950 square feet of split-level, indoor-outdoor living space.
Resort-style facilities
Celebrity Edge will offer a pool deck with art installations including treetop sculptures, hot tubs and private cabanas. Situated alongside the 25-yard lap pool is the Pool Bar, too.
Passengers can also discover The Rooftop Garden. Described as a ‘living urban playscape’, the area is inspired by childhood playgrounds and offers the chance to watch a film, dance away to a night time live band, or dine at the Rooftop Garden Grill.
Voyages for groups
Celebrity Edge will set sail from Rome or Barcelona for some of Europe’s most beautiful destinations on a seven, nine, ten or 11-night getaways. An 11-night Amalfi Coast & Greek Isles itinerary for example, visits Rome, Santorini, Mykonos and Katakoln, plus other destinations.
There are also two new ports of call to look forward to: Nauplion on Greece’s Argolis Peninsula and Santa Margherita on the Italian Riviera.
