Cilla - The Musical, which will be embarking on a world premiere tour this autumn, has announced casting for the role of Cilla.
Following the open auditions that were held for the title role of Cilla Black, Kara Lily Hayworth has been chosen to play the part in the first ever musical about the star.
Originally from Watford, Hayworth trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama. She recently performed in Secret Cinema’s Moulin Rouge and this will be her first leading role in a big new musical as well as her first time on tour.
Synopsis: Cilla - The Musical
Cilla - The Musical tells the story of Priscilla White and her rocky, yet incredible, rise to fame. By the age of just 25 she was recognized as international singing star Cilla Black. By the age of 30 she had become one of Britain’s favourite television entertainers, headlining series like Blind Date, Surprise, Surprise and many more.
The musical score will be full of 60’s songs, including Cilla’s greatest hits Anyone Who Had a Heart, Alfie and Something Tells Me, alongside a backdrop of ‘Liverpool Sound’ including the Beatles’ Twist and Shout, and American influences like California Dreamin’ by The Mamas and The Papas.
