Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5 The Musical will play London’s Savoy Theatre from January to August next year.
Louise Redknapp has been announced as the lead, Violet Newstead, while Amber Davies will take on the role of Judy Bernly with Brian Conley as Franklin Hart.
Tickets for the musical, which features a book by Patricia Resnick, the 1980 film’s original screenwriter and an original score by country legend Dolly Parton, go on sale on Tuesday 18th September.
About the musical
9 to 5 The Musical tells the story of Doralee (Natalie McQueen), Violet (Redknapp) and Judy (Davies), three workmates pushed to boiling point by their sexist and egotistical boss.
Concocting a plan to kidnap their despicable supervisor, the girls fight to reform their office.
Written by Patricia Resnick with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton, the musical is directed by Jeff Calhoun with choreography by Lisa Stevens. It was originally produced on Broadway in 2009.
The stars
Louise Redknapp most recently starred as Sally Bowles in the national tour of Cabaret and reached the final of Strictly Come Dancing in 2016.
Amber Davies’ credits whilst training include Bring It On, My Favourite Year and Memphis. She also won last year’s ITV reality series Love Island.
Natalie McQueen is currently appearing in the West End as Lauren in Kinky Boots at the Adelphi Theatre. Her other credits include Wicked at the Apollo Victoria and Les Misérables at the Palace Theatre.
Brian Conley’s many West End credits include Edna Turnblad in Hairspray at the Shaftesbury Theatre, Caractacus Potts in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the London Palladium and Bill in Me and My Girl at the Adelphi Theatre.
