Mersey Ferries

Mersey Ferries has confirmed its Summer Evening Cruises for groups, which will form part of Liverpool’s celebratory season of 50 Summers of Love.

The two-hour evening cruises will run from 22nd June until 14th September and will offer live music, a licensed bar, as well as views of Liverpool waterfront, a UNESCO world heritage site.

On board the cruises

Group cruisers will be able to board boats at Seacombe in Wirral, as well as at Liverpool’s Pier Head, depending on the time they choose to attend.

A variety of local artists and musicians on board each cruise will pay homage to the events of 1967 with a soundtrack for the summer, in line with the city’s celebrations marking the golden anniversary of the Summer of Love in 1967.

Mersey Ferries played its own role in that era, as The Beatles performed four times on-board The Royal Isis, which was operated by the company. These performances allegedly spanned three periods in the band’s development.

Group bookings

Group travel organisers are advised to pre-book Summer Evening Cruises in advance by calling 01513-301420 or e-mailing groups@merseyferries.co.uk.

Group rates are available for parties of 20 or more people.

Further information about 50 Summers of Love

Liverpool is set to host its 67-17: 50 Summers of Love season between 12th April and 3rd September to mark 50 years since the original summer that saw some of the biggest cultural shifts of a generation.

The town was at the heart of the avant-garde movement that took the world by storm, as 1967 was also the year that saw the release of The Beatles’ Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, along with the publication of The Mersey Sound poetry anthology and the opening of the Metropolitan Cathedral.
