Production company Cameron Mackintosh has announced further dates for the forthcoming UK and Ireland tour of the new Miss Saigon musical, along with the principal casting.
Miss Saigon tells the story of the last days of the Vietnam War, during which 17 year-old Kim is forced to work in a Saigon bar run by a notorious character known as the Engineer.
The new production by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg will open at Curve theatre in Leicester on the 1st July and was originally confirmed to tour until next March.
It’s now touring until September 2018 and tickets are available to book now for many of the tour dates.
The new dates
In addition to the venues already announced, Miss Saigon will be shown at the Manchester Palace Theatre from 21st March until 12th May 2018, the Bristol Hippodrome from 16th May until 23rd June, the Theatre Royal Plymouth from 4th July until 4th August and the Norwich Theatre Royal from the 15th August until 15th September.
Further venues are also expected to be announced soon.
Principal casting
Multi-award winner actor Red Concepcion (pictured above) will play The Engineer, while actress Sooha Kim will perform as Kim.
Concepcion’s theatre credits include Adam/Felicia in Priscilla Queen of the Desert, for which he won the ALIW award, Tommy in The Normal Heart and Alan Strang in Equus. He has also participated in the musicals West End Story and Hairspray.
Kim made her professional debut in Miss Saigon’s recent production at the Prince Edward Theatre, where she covered the role of Kim before being cast to play the same role in the Japanese production.
Actors Ashley Gilmour, Zoe Doano and Gerald Santos will perform as Chris, Ellen and Thuy respectively.
They are joined by actors including David Allwood, Randy Chien, Vinny Coyle, Kristine Mae Diaz, and Michael James Eboral.
