The tour of Rain Man, which opened for a short-run in August has been extended until April 2019.
If you wanted to see the tour of Rain Man this year but were unable to get tickets, you’re in luck as the production has just announced it will continue its road trip into 2019.
The 2019 run will open at Theatre Royal Bath on 14th January before visiting a selection of venues until April. It will also feature a new lead cast.
What is Rain Man about?
When self-centred salesman Charlie Babbitt discovers that his long-lost brother Raymond, an autistic savant with a genius for numbers, has inherited the family fortune; he sets out to get ‘his half’.
Charlie ‘borrows’ Raymond from the institution where he has spent most of his life and the brothers embark on a trip across America where Charlie soon discovers that Raymond is worth more than he could have ever imagined.
Casting
The show is currently starring Mathew Horne (who plays Gavin in Gavin & Stacey) as Raymond Babbit and Ed Speleers (Downtown Abbey) as his brother Charlie. These roles will be taken over by Paul Nicholls (Raymond Babbit) and Chris Fountain (Charlie Babbitt) for the 2019 tour dates.
Nicholls joined EastEnders as the troubled Joe Wicks in 1996 until 1997. He has also appeared in acclaimed dramas such as Channel 4’s hit drama Ackley Bridge, The C Word for the BBC and ITV’s Law and Order.
Chris Fountain won Best Actor in the 2008 British Soap Awards for his portrayal of Justin Burton in Hollyoaks. He played Tommy Duckworth for two years in Coronation Street and has also starred in Dancing On Ice and most recently the ITV drama, Girlfriends.
