If you’ve received great service from someone working in the travel trade, nominate them for the Excellence Award today: the online nomination process is now officially open.

It may be the exciting destinations, world-class attractions and brilliant hotels that form a memorable group trip, but often we choose to work with companies because of the people.

And the Excellence Award – one of the Group Leisure Awards – aims to recognise that particular person whose service deserves rewarding.

Organising a group is not always easy, and the reassurance of having someone at the end of the phone can make a big difference. From initial enquiry and finding the right deal, through to promotion, taking bookings and running a successful trip, having guidance and support from a friendly professional really helps.

There are some amazing people who work in the travel trade, and The Excellence Award aims to recognise their service to group travel organisers. Past winners have worked for tour operators, coach companies, ticket providers, racecourses, and even world-class orchestras. What they all have in common is their ability to connect with people beyond the routine customer relationship.

Not all service is created equal, especially when it comes to group travel and leisure. If you know someone who pulls out all the stops please take the time to nominate them for The Excellence Award 2017, which is presented at the Group Leisure Awards ceremony in October.

How does the award work?

  • Nominate online at groupleisure.com/excellence.
  • Support your nomination with a brief explanation as to why your chosen person deserves to win.
  • Nominations close on Monday 3rd July, after which time the team at Group Leisure magazine draw up a shortlist of four people, having considered all the candidates.
  • The four finalists are then featured in the magazine and through groupleisure.com, and readers are then asked to vote for the winner.
  • The winner will be announced at the Group Leisure Awards ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole on 19th October.

Who can nominate?

Group travel organisers can make as many nominations as they want. Suppliers and people working for a company in the travel trade can nominate a maximum of one colleague.

Who can win?

The winner will be someone from a commercial or charitable supplier to group travel organisers. GTOs don’t qualify for this award, and besides, they have the GTO of the Year to aim for.

You can enter or nominate someone for the GTO of the Year Award here.
