PortAventura in Spain has revealed that the official opening date for its new Ferrari Land attraction will be 7th April 2017.
Ferrari Land will be themed to look like an Italian town with restaurants, shops, family rides and eight Ferrari simulators. It will also feature a building housing a new Ferrari experience.
Details regarding the Ferrari experience are being kept completely under wraps so that visitors will be in for a surprise when they visit.
The new themed land will also offer attractions such as the Ferrari Land circuit, which will be a 570 metre track that’s available for racing, and Bounce-Back Towers — a drop ride reaching a height of 55 meters that’s been designed to recreate a rebound movement similar to that of a real Ferrari engine.
The highlight will be the park’s new vertical accelerator rollercoaster, which will become the tallest in Europe at 112 metres.
The accelerator loading platform will resemble a real F1 pit stop, and carriages will be themed to look like an F1 car, with Ferrari Rosso Corsa elements chosen by the FIA.
Giovanni Cavalli, from PortAventura commented, “The arrival of Ferrari Land next April will highlight PortAventura World’s position as a worldwide leading holiday destination, offering three theme parks in one resort.
“PortAventura will be a wholly unique destination on an international scale, combining the true essence of our theme park and resort with the distinctive traits of Ferrari Land.”
Other ‘worlds’ within the theme park include Mediterrània, Polynesia, China, México, SésamoAventura (which is themed around Seasame Street characters) and Far West.
PortAventura opened on 1st May, 1995, and currently boasts a total of 36 rides, eight of which are roller coasters and four water rides.
