Barbara Tester’s group had a wonderful time on a recent visit to Norfolk, which included a royal stop, historic railway journey and a trip to Cambridge on the way home.
The group of 28 stayed at Knights Hill Hotel, just outside Kings Lynn, and were impressed with its hospitality for groups.
Barbara, who runs the Day Explorers Group, told us: “It was a four star hotel and excellent in every way. It had enormous rooms, great food, good service and obliging staff. They also managed to sort a large number of single rooms for us which went down well.
“Our day trips included a visit to Sandringham House and Gardens which was superb and thoroughly enjoyed by the whole group. We also booked a trip on the Bure Valley Railway, followed by a steamboat ride on the Broads.”
With generations of history linked to the British monarch since 1862, Sandringham Estate remains the private country retreat of King Charles III and Queen Camilla. Groups can pre-book guided tours which can include the chance to sample a glass of Sandringham Apple Juice or Gin.
Barbara added: “We spent the last day in Cambridge, visiting colleges or going on a punt. As this coach was specifically for the 28 of us, we were able to add on a historic venue trip either end - Oxburgh Estate and Peckover House.”
Barbara said it was a full on schedule but thoroughly appreciated by everyone. She continued: “My group members described the trip as a hectic, exceptional and a fab five days.”
“Our next group holiday is Wales for Garden Lovers. My friend and I arranged the itinerary and that one certainly will be hectic.”
