A new booking period has been announced for the premiere of Tina, the musical about singer Tina Turner, opening at the Aldwych Theatre on 17th April.
What Stage Entertainment calls “exceptional public demand” means that over 100,000 new tickets have gone on sale for the new show which is currently booking until 20th October.
Tina tells the story of Tina Turner’s musical career, from humble beginnings in Nutbush, Tennessee, to her transformation into a global Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll.
The new stage musical, presented in association with Tina Turner herself, reveals the untold story of a woman who ‘dared to defy the bounds of her age, gender and race’.
Cast and creatives
The cast comprises Adrienne Warren, who plays the title role, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith as Ike Turner, and Madeline Appiah as Tina’s mother Zelma Bullock.
Jenny Fitzpatrick will play the alternate Tina, with Lorna Gayle as Tina’s Grandmother GG, and Aisha Jawando as Tina’s sister Alline Bullock.
Other cast members comprise Natey Jones, Gerard McCarthy, Ryan O’Donnell, Tsemaye Bob-Egbe, Keisher Downie, Kit Esuruoso.
Children’s casting will be announced in due course.
Written by Katori Hall with Frank Ketelaar and Kees Prins, choreography is by Anthony van Laast, with set and costume designs by Mark Thompson, musical supervision by Nicholas Skilbeck, lighting by Bruno Poet, sound by Nevin Steinberg, projection design by Jeff Sugg and orchestrations by Ethan Popp.
