The Royal Horticultural Society will open a brand new 165 acre RHS garden in Greater Manchester in 2019.
RHS Garden Bridgewater will open in 2019 on the historic grounds of Worsely New Hall.
Its creation will be part of the RHS’ ten year £100 million investment programme, which aims to enrich everyone’s lives through plants and to make the UK a greener place.
The collaboration between the owners of the historic estate Peel Land and Property, Salford City Council and the RHS will create a major new destination garden which they hope will inspire one million visitors a year, once open.
Highlights in the garden will include the restoration of the ten acre Walled Kitchen Garden which is one of the largest in the UK and redeveloping some of the historical features of the site, such as the terraces that sit between the lake and the site of the lost Worsley New Hall.
The RHS Garden Bridgewater will be the fifth garden created by the Royal Horticultural Society, its last garden being acquired 14 years ago.
If you can’t wait until 2019 to visit an RHS garden, there are plenty of events lined up in 2016, such as the Flower Show Cardiff in April, the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in May, the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show in July, the Flower Show Tatton Park in late July and the RHS Chatsworth Flower Show, new for 2017.
The brand new RHS Chatsworth Flower show will open in June 2017 and will host a collection of show gardens, floral displays and shopping experiences.
