Audra McDonald

Performances of Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill in London have been postponed following the announcement that leading lady Audra McDonald is pregnant.

The production, which recounts jazz singer Billie Holiday's life story through the songs that made her famous, was due to play for a limited period at Wyndham’s Theatre from 25th June to 3rd September.

Plans and dates for a revised running period are to be announced shortly.

Speaking from New York where she is currently starring in the Broadway production of Shuffle Along, Or The Making of the Musical Sensation of 1921 and All That Followed, Audra McDonald said:

“Who knew that tap dancing during perimenopause could lead to pregnancy? Will and I are completely surprised—and elated—to be expecting a new addition to our family.

“I am so very grateful to everyone in New York and London for allowing me to rearrange my schedule to accommodate this little miracle.

“Of course, I’m disappointed I have to postpone my West End debut in Lady Day, but I look forward to rescheduling as soon as possible.”

GTOs who have purchased tickets should contact the box office on 0844-482 5120 to arrange a refund.
