Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story was the most-recent filming project to take place at Blenheim Palace.

The Bridgerton prequel retells an elaborate version of the marriage between King George III and Queen Charlotte, with Blenheim Palace posing as Buckingham House.

Visitors to the UNESCO World Heritage Site can go behind-the-scenes on a special tour running twice a day, to learn fun facts about top films and television shows which have used the palace, including Gulliver’s Travels, Harry Potter, James Bond and The BFG.

The updated route for the Lights, Camera, Action trail explains how the site was used in Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story in more detail.

Many of the lavish scenes you see in the series were filmed between the Great Court and Water Terraces. While the Great Court was adorned with royal guards and opulent carriages, the Water Terraces were transformed into an outdoor space where the final ball takes place in the show. The space was filled with dancers and courtiers for the scene, which occurs in episode six.

The UNESCO World Heritage Site was also the ideal choice to play Buckingham House (now Buckingham Palace), due to its real-life connections with Queen Charlotte and King George lll.

The duo shared a close friendship with the 4th Duke and Duchess of Marlborough, and after their visit to Blenheim, they were so inspired by the Palace that they embarked on renovating Buckingham House.

Other highlights along the trail, which is included in any palace, park and gardens ticket, are: the Walled Garden (Inspector Morse), Grand Bridge (Cinderella) and the Green Writing Room (Mission:Impossible and Rogue Nation).
