A new collection of Taste Break holidays will be launched by Riviera Travel this month, offering tailor-made short jaunts to some of Europe’s most enticing foodie cities.
Berlin, Bologna, Copenhagen, Lisbon, and Lyon are amongst the list of cities available with the new collection, as are Bordeaux, Bilbao, Athens, Rome and Madrid.
Taste Breaks will see UK travellers experience ‘flexible, comfortable and authentic’ European culinary city-breaks with the choice of any return flights from the UK, private airport transfers and the services of a local host.
Insider tips and culinary traditions
To ensure an authentic long weekend full of flavour, the local host will provide a personal welcome with insider recommendations on their city’s most important regional dishes and culinary traditions.
Guests will then take an orientation walk to help navigate the city on the first morning as well as a special food-themed walk pointing out under-the-radar restaurants, buzzing food markets and historical sites.
An example itinerary to Lyon in France might include the city’s very best ‘Bouchon Lyonnais’ bistros (quintessentially French restaurants with red and white tablecloths); bed and breakfast accommodation; return flights from the UK and private airport transfers.
Also included would be the personal welcome from the local host, a guided orientation walk and Lyonnaise food market tour.
Will Sarson, head of Taste Breaks at Riviera Travel, commented: “So many of us love weekend breaks and discovering new cities, but it’s frustrating when you end up eating mediocre food in tourist traps and leave with that feeling that you haven’t experienced the city as locals know it.
“By creating Taste Breaks, we want to help people have a more authentic trip and get to the heart of their destination. With our incredible local hosts, we know customers truly will see and taste the real city.”
The Taste Breaks welcome groups – parties of over 19 should make their booking via the website at www.tastebreaks.co.uk/contact.
