The 2016 programme of exhibitions, displays and group visits at the official royal residences and The Queen’s Galleries has been announced by the Royal Collection Trust.
A new special group experience The King’s Man: Shakespeare and the Royal Court will be new for 2016 and take place at Windsor Castle.
The tour will mark the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare. The visit will begin in the castle’s Winchester Tower and include a talk by a member of Royal Collection Trust staff.
Visitors will then be offered refreshments before seeing the Shakespeare in the Royal Library exhibition, which will show how generations of monarchs from Elizabeth I have enjoyed the work of Shakespeare.
A new exhibition, Fashioning a Reign; 90 Years of Style from the Queen’s Wardrobe will be on display at all of the properties in the Royal Collection Trust. This display will be held to commemorate the queen’s 90th birthday.
The Last of the Tide, meanwhile, will be on show at Holyrood House and will feature portraits of D-Day veterans.
Other exhibitions running next year include Scottish Artists 1750 – 1900: From Calesdonia to the Continent, Maria Merian’s Butterflies, Portrait of the Artist. Masters of the Everyday: Dutch Artists in the Age of Vermeer and Painting Paradise: The Art of the Garden.
