The forthcoming UK tour of Dusty, the new musical about the life of Dusty Springfield, will see actor, comedian and presenter Rufus Hound playing Dusty’s manager, Billings.
He joins previously announced Katherine Kingsley in the title role.
Dusty will have its world premiere at Theatre Royal Bath in June. Following its run there, the show will visit The Lyceum in Sheffield, Newcastle Theatre Royal, and The Lowry in Salford.
Synopsis: Dusty
The show follows the life and career of singer, Dusty Springfield, taken from the memoires of her close friend, manager and authorised biographer Vicki Wickham, her lifelong personal assistant Pat Rhodes, and friend and record company executive Tris Penna.
Dusty features many of the singer’s soulful pop hits, including I Only Want to Be with You, Son of a Preacher Man and You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me.

Rufus Hound’s credits include roles on screen including Doctor Who, Cucumber, Hounded and on the stage including What The Butler Saw, Don Quixote, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, and The Wind in the Willows.
In the title role will be Katherine Kingsley, whose theatre credits include playing Marlene Dietrich in Piaf and Christine Colgate in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Her on-screen credits include the film Genius as well as appearances on The Bill, Casualty and Bad Education.
Joining them will be Roberta Taylor (The Bill, EastEnders) as Dusty’s mother Kay.
Further casting will include Ishmail Aaron, Jenny Bolt, Alex Bowen, Esther Coles, Joelle Dyson, Joanna Francis, and Paul Grunert, plus others. More casting is still to be announced.
