The Russian State Ballet of Siberia will return to the UK next year with its 16th tour of the nation, with performances of Cinderella, Romeo & Juliet, The Snow Maiden, The Nutcracker, and Swan Lake.
The tour, which will visit 25 venues including Oxford’s New Theatre, the Empire Theatre in Liverpool, and the Brighton Theatre Royal, will run from 2nd January until 4th April. Different venues will host a selection of the five ballets throughout the tour.
The Russian State Ballet of Siberia is one of Russia’s leading ballet companies and comprises over 40 dancers and 30 musicians. The troupe will be accompanied by The Orchestra of the Russian State Ballet.
For the 2018 season, the company will merge ‘traditional and digital worlds with an imaginative staging set against an ever-changing colourful backdrop with special effects’.
Commenting on the upcoming productions, artistic director Sergei Bobrov said: “It is always a pleasure to bring the unique traditions of Russian Ballet to British audiences. Touring across the UK with a full company of dancers as well as highly skilled musicians is always exciting, for me, it is very special to have the power of a symphony orchestra bringing the choreography to life on stage.”
