Casting for the UK tour of musical comedy The Addams Family has been confirmed, and Samantha Womack of EastEnders fame will play Morticia.
The UK tour will open at the Festival Theatre, Edinburgh on 20th April, and is confirmed to run until November, visiting locations including Salford, Sheffield and Bristol along the way.

Samantha Womack will take on the role of Morticia Addams after leaving BBC One’s EastEnders after nearly a decade as Ronnie Mitchell.
Her stage credits include South Pacific, Guys & Dolls and Betrayal.
Other confirmed cast members include Les Dennis as Lester and Carrie Hope Fletcher as Wednesday.
Dennis has spent the last three years playing Michael Rodwel in ITV’s Coronation Street. His stage credits include the musicals Me & My Girl, Chicago, Monty Python’s Spamalot and Hairspray.
Carrie Hope Fletcher, meanwhile, has played Eponine in Les Misérables, Truly in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and Beth in Jeff Wayne’s Arena Tour of War of the Worlds.
Synopsis of The Addams Family
The Addams Family revolves around Wednesday Addams who is described as the ultimate princess of darkness. Wednesday has grown up and fallen in love with a respectable young man and only her father, Gomez, knows.
Gomez is faced with the task of keeping this a secret from his wife Morticia, and audiences will watch as things come to a head when the whole family – including Uncle Fester, Lurch and Pugsley – throw a dinner for Wednesday’s normal boyfriend and his parents.
The show will be presented by United Theatrical, Aria Entertainment and Music & Lyrics Limited, in association with the Festival Theatre Edinburgh, and will have music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa, based on the characters by Charles Addams.
