A new group package launched by Ullswater ‘Steamers’ and Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway is said to allow groups to immerse themselves in two areas of the Lake District National Park with a combined VIP tour.
The sister attractions have launched a ‘First Class Cruise and Steam’ tour that combines a return steam train journey in a retro first class carriage at the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway with a one-hour private cruise with Ullswater ‘Steamers’.
The tours do not have to be taken on the same day and are an addition for 2022 that are said to provide an unforgettable experience for visitors to travel in style, as they discover both the dramatic Western Lake District, and Ullswater – known as England’s most scenic lake.
Rachel Bell, head of marketing and development at Lake District Estates, said: “Demand continues to rise for unique group travel experiences, and we are pleased to offer groups a fantastic way to discover two beautiful areas of the Lake District.”
“Visitors will love the premium comfort that our first-class carriage provides, meanwhile there is no better way to discover the stunning scenery of the Ullswater Valley than onboard a private cruise complete with live commentary.
“Our sister attractions are iconic experiences in their own right, so combining the two makes for a truly memorable trip.”
Joint Attraction Tours
Ullswater ‘Steamers’, which has been sailing for over 160 years, has also partnered with nearby attractions to offer new ‘Joint Attraction Tours’ in 2022.
Joint Attraction tickets reportedly allow groups to discover the best of the Lake District’s cultural heritage with a one-way cruise, plus entry to one of the following:
- Dalemain Historic Mansion & Gardens
- Lowther Castle & Gardens
- The Lakes Whisky Distillery
- Wordsworth Trust - Dove Cottage
The operator can also offer private, one-way and circular cruises starting from Glenridding, with live commentary that guides groups alongside the vistas of the Lake District’s highest mountains and the landscape of the Ullswater Valley.
Meanwhile visitors to the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway can take a seven-mile journey through the scenery of the Western Lake District where two UNESCO World Heritage Sites meet – Hadrian’s Wall and the Lake District National Park.
Groups can choose to customise their tour at the heritage steam railway with options to include: picnic boxes; a new group food menu; and reserved seating in their cafés, plus specialist educational tours.
