Travelling from the soaring granite peaks of the Torres del Paine to the windswept wilds of Tierra del Fuego and its wildlife-rich shores and islands, this new tour takes groups to the sweeping landscapes of Patagonia which spans 260,000 square miles across Argentina and Chile.
This new 16-day Patagonia group holiday is from specialist tour operator, Mountain Kingdoms and offers the opportunity to enjoy a brief sojourn in the atmospheric city of Santiago, the capital of Chile after arrival.
From there you travel to the heart of the Torres del Paine National Park to step out from the superb Eco Camp onto the W Trek – said to be the best short trek in the park.
Two days of trekking uncovers the park’s most celebrated sights - French Valley, Pehoe Lake, Glacier Grey and the twisted peaks of Los Cuernos - whilst staying in ‘spectacularly located’ refuges. It’s back to the cosy domes of the Eco Camp for the final stroke of the ‘W’ – a walk to the dramatic viewpoint at the base of the Towers of Paine.
Crossing the border into Argentine Patagonia, it’s then on to experience the spectacle of the Perito Moreno Glacier before flying south to the island of Tierra del Fuego at ‘the very end of the earth’.
Here there are three days to hike the landscapes and explore the surrounding Atlantic waters by small boat and kayak, including an up-close encounter with a penguin colony in the Beagle Channel.
The journey home is via Buenos Aires in Argentina, with time to tango in one of Latin America’s most vibrant cities.
The vast majority of Mountain Kingdoms’ small group guided holidays have a maximum group size of 12 people, and the minimum for this particular trip is four.
Group departure dates are 11th February & 7th October 2023 but it is also possible to organise this tour as a private group holiday.
Mountain Kingdoms is an independent specialist British tour operator which has been organising walking and trekking holidays to the Himalaya for over 35 years. It offers over 130 small group adventures and tailor made holidays.
