The Titanic musical will return to London for a ten week season this summer, opening at Charing Cross Theatre on Saturday 28th May.
The show is based on actual characters abroad the famous Titanic ship, and is directed by Thom Southerland, with Danielle Tarento, Steven M. Levy, Sean Sweeney and Vaughan Williams producing.
Titanic tells the story of the ship’s residents – the third class immigrants hoping for a better life in America, the second class passengers who in turn dream of the lifestyles of the rich and the famous and finally, the millionaire barons of first class, who dream of their wealth lasting forever.
Thom Southerland commented, “I am incredibly excited that Titanic will set sail for London again. Having created the production in the intimate setting of Southwark Playhouse, it will be wonderful to see Maury Yeston’s epic musical at such close proximity again.
“Having since opened productions of the show in major theatres in Japan and Canada, it really feels like the show is coming home, allowing us to board the ship again and experience the events and passengers as they travel on their fateful journey.”
Titanic is famous for colliding with an iceberg on her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York, in April 1912.
Despite being famously dubbed unsinkable, the ship slowly sank and resulted in 1,517 men, women and children losing their lives in one night.
The musical was first seen in 2013 at Southwark Playhouse, but will now return for a ten week session at Charring Cross Theatre until Saturday 6th August.
The show was also directed by Thom Southerland, and produced by Danielle Tarento during its six week run in 2013.
